This March, rather than gathering for a special connective activity on the 2nd Sunday of the month, we’ll join others from local non-profits and churches on Saturday, March 11 in service to our local community. This event is organized by local nonprofit Project Peace.
While there are a number of sites and projects to choose from, we are encouraging folks from Haven to signup and serve together at the Alameda Point Collaborative (please note that due to current volunteer needs, this is a change from the previously announced site at Oakland International High School). Alameda Point Collaborative is a non-profit social enterprise that trains and employs residents in their supportive housing community. Their Ploughshares Nursery offers native plants, drought tolerant plants and edible plants at affordable prices, and 100% of sales support housing and services for formerly homeless families and individuals living on the old Alameda Naval Base.
Because we will have this connection gathering on a Saturday, there will be no Sunday morning gathering on March 12. Our Sunday hybrid services will take place as regularly scheduled on March 5 and March 19.
