sunday service details
When: 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, 10:30 am - 12 pm
Where: Washington Elementary School
2300 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, Berkeley (MLK and Bancroft)
Virtual Hybrid Option: For those of you unable to attend or looking for ways to participate from afar, we strive to make each service accessible to every person, near and far. We use Zoom to share a livestream of Sunday services, so look out for our newsletter delivery Sunday mornings at 8am to get the details. If you haven’t signed up for our mailing list yet, you can do so here!
Washington School is less than a 10 minute walk from Downtown Berkeley BART. Parking available on site. Lot is located on McKinley, south of Bancroft. Follow the Haven signs.
What to Expect: As we begin to gather, we will be carefully following our Haven Safety Plan, including for the time being wearing masks and social distancing.
You can also expect casual dress. We’re a very come-as-you-are crew.
The service itself generally includes a spiritual-but-practical teaching, and each week there is room for discussion for those who want to participate. All this is usually followed by "responsive worship", in which folks are welcome to join in and sing to live musical worship, or sit back and listen.
For the Kids: Our intergenerational space will include a time for children to be together. We will have a Haven Kids Moment during our gathering and then the children in attendance will be dismissed to go with our adult volunteers to play on the play ground, have a single pre-wrapped snack, and to do an art project to go with the lesson.

connection Sundays
When: 2nd Sundays of (almost) every month, 10:30 am - 12 pm
Where: Generally these gatherings take place at Washington Elementary, though sometimes they may take place at alternative locations, depending on the specifics of the gathering.
What to Expect: On these Sundays, we take a break from putting on a traditional worship gathering and focus on activities that can further connection in the community. Haven attenders are invited to take turns facilitating this time, cultivating activities that nurture belonging. These may include intergenerational crafting time, brunches together, hikes, dance parties, and more.
