Join us as we participate in the largest display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in San Francisco History.

Schedule:

  • Meet at 10:30am at the Community Village Area of the Robin Williams Meadow in Golden Gate Park for a brief time of fellowship. (To connect when we get there contact Jeanne via cell at 510-734-3812).

  • We will tour booths and history displays until 11:30.

  • We’ll meet up at the Social Media and Conversation Villages at 11:45am to share some brief reflections, including communion if desired.

  • Those who are interested in making a quilt panel to honor Jesus Movement pioneer Lonnie Frisbee—a gay man who was written out of the movement’s history after dying of AIDS in the 1990s—are invited to meet at the New Panel Village and workshop afterwards to learn more about how we might do that.

What to expect: 350 12’x12’ Quilt blocks laid out on the ground, each consisting of eight 3’x 6’ individually sewn panels honoring the names and stories of loved ones lost to AIDS. Connie Barker and Sylvia Williams will be among those reading names from the main stage. Areas of the community village for visitors to explore include a panel-making workshop, quilt history village, social media and storytelling village, conversations village, and community service village featuring 35+ NGOs.
