Haven’s Lead Pastor, Leah Martens, is taking a much-needed twelve-week clergy sabbatical from May 9 through July 31st, 2022. This is possible because we have a dedicated team of leaders who is committed to carrying on the work of cultivating the Haven community, while Leah engages in a season of solitude, rest and renewal.
During the Sabbatical Season, our Connections Pastor, Jeanne Wong will serve as our Interim Lead Pastor, managing many of the day-to-day logistics. If you have operational or logistical questions, you may address them to Jeanne. She will be supported by a team of other leaders helping in a variety of ways to carry the various tasks that Leah generally manages. Below is information on who will be filling some of those roles, as well as info on places we could still use volunteer support.
Pastoral Care
Jeanne Wong
One of Leah’s roles involves the concept of “Pastoral Care”. This expansive term can mean anything from one-on-one conversations to receive moral support for challenging life circumstances, receive spiritual counsel, work through challenging theology, receive prayer, or simply connect with a caring human being, as well as having a connection point to potentially facilitate practical support (like meals or rides) in whatever challenging life circumstances may arise.
Ginny Prince
During this sabbatical season, both Jeanne Wong and Ginny Prince are making themselves available for this kind of care. You can reach out to either of them for support at any time.

Support Opportunities
The following are all spaces we could still use additional support. Contact Jeanne if you could help as either a primary or backup volunteer for any of the following roles.
Sunday Morning Volunteer Coordinator (1 - 2 volunteers): Ahead of our four Sunday services during the Sabbatical, help make sure our Sunday volunteer roles are filled, reaching out to others who could help to fill in gaps.
Update Google Calendar (1-2 volunteers): As items are added to the schedule or changes are made, update our Google calendar to reflect these.
Weekly Email (2 volunteers): Use Mailchimp to send our weekly updates to the Haven email list.
Coordinate Outdoor 2nd Sundays in June and July (2-3 volunteers): Support Connie in planning the outdoor Connection Sunday on June 12 or plan a similar outdoor hike, beach day, or other outdoor gathering on Sunday, July 10
Haven Campout Planning (2 volunteers): Support Kim in planning the upcoming Haven Camping Trip at Anthony Chabot Regional Park, July 29-31.
Refresh Haven’s Social Media Presence on Facebook and/or Instagram (1 - 2 volunteers): If social media users would like to help Haven expand it’s presence on Facebook or Instagram, make posts on Haven’s behalf.
